NEW – Load Support Units.
“Intelligent Charging” also produce Load Support Units, which are mains-powered units providing power for auxiliary systems while main power generation is off. These avoid the need to generate secondary power from a main diesel engine when undergoing maintenance. The cost savings and environmental benefits are significant. The new 80-amp single phase, and 220-amp three-phase Load Support Units are available – please complete our enquiry form if you would like to discuss this application.
How We Can Help
Modern locomotives and rolling stock use ever more electrical & electronic equipment, such as lighting, heating and communication systems. These must remain functional in the event of power failures, and so the battery packs are a critical part of the on-board safety equipment.
Maintaining correct battery voltage is not sufficient to ensure the batteries will in practice retain enough capacity to meet the stringent requirements of the rail safety authorities. Simple battery monitoring systems can predict some problems, and a routine replacement programme (expensive) can reduce failure risks.
However, the only way to confirm a battery will operate at its designed rating is to test it at a full load, and to full capacity. “Intelligent Charging” automatic battery charger/analysers have a proven track record world-wide. They are vital maintenance equipment for any battery-critical applications.
